I love beach body. In high school I was a devoted P90x fan. Throughout collage it helped me to keep the freshman 15 off and keep energy up while commuting to school as a full time student and working two jobs.
After having my baby, 21 day fix is helping me with portion control. I have no issue working out, I have always been super motivated to hit the gym or turn on the amazing DVDs, however I love food, I love to eat, I love to cook, and I love to drink…that is were the pounds stay on.
The 21 day fix is a program that incorporates portioned controlled containers with exercise and nutrition. Each colored container represents what you will be eating: Vegetables, Fruits, Oil/dressing, Protein, Cheese and Healthy Fats, Carbs, and seeds.
Beach Body provides a formula which allows you to calculate how many calories you should be eating a day. Once you have your calorie range you can determine how many containers you get per day. You portion out each food item, if it fits in the container you can eat it, if it doesn’t you can’t. You get to have breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner. I need to eat snacks, I can’t make it in-between meals without eating…I end up noshing on chips or chocolate :/
Before I started my 21 Day Fix Journey I was super skeptical. I have always been restrictive in my diets, as I mentioned in previous posts, and $160 is a lot of money to put towards a fitness program when you have a family on a buget. After a friend tried this diet and lost 7 pounds I decided it was time to give it a try. My weight loss results had started to plato and I needed a kickstart from my normal fitness and nutrition routine. On this program I can eat pretty much whatever I want, as long as I am meeting my food intake requirements set in place by the eating guide. I can have cheese, carbs, and wine, Sign me up!
After the first week I saw big improvements in my abs, I wasn’t puffy and bloated I was getting lean and thin again (peace out baby fat.) By my 2 round of the 21 Day fix, my pre-baby jeans fit me again, I was down 7 pounds, and my abs and thighs where lean.
I love that the 21 day fix makes sense. We go out to eat all the time, to restaurants and to friends houses, it is nice being able to eat the food that was cooked for me without feeling guilty for breaking my diet. I just try to get the portion sizes best I can.
The whole program can seem a little confusing at first, having to make meal combinations that fit together to total the right amount of vegetable, fat, protein, fruit, and starch is scary however there are great 21 day fix apps that help you track how much you have had and what you have left to eat.
Another delicious part of the Beach Body program is shakeology. I love smoothies, however its hard to find a tasty protein powder that acts as a nutritious meal replacement. I love the vegan chocolate, its almost like chocolate milk. A big thing for me is being able to blend them up with nothing in it and have it still taste good, shakeology is the only powder I have found that fits the bill, and I have tried ALOT.
I hope this helps explain the program a bit more, Its worked wonders for me and it can help you to!
I have taken my love affair with Beach Body one step further and signed up as a coach, if you are interested in the program please email me so we can chat…firstname.lastname@example.org
